About Cheryl Small
With my years of bodywork experience and my fascination with the strength and resilience of the human spirit, I will create a safe, nurturing space for people to reconnect to their own bodies, using their breath, helping them find their inner strength to sustain and nourish them through life’s challenges.
I started doing yoga in my own living room in 1997. It immediately brought me great strength, flexibility, and clarity. A great awareness was opened up in me that I had never experienced before. What was working in my life became clear and what was not working became even clearer. I went back to college in 1998 and in 2000 graduated with my Associates degree in Massage Therapy and Bodywork. This was just the beginning of the metamorphosis that was about to happen to me. If you were to look up the top five biggest stressors in life, you would find everything that would happen to me in the years between then and now. During this time, my personal yoga practice and the deep connections I had with others through my massage and bodywork was what sustained me.
I became a hospice volunteer in 2005 and found that serving others was bringing me the greatest joy in my life. In 2010, I put my life on hold and spent 11 weeks in Las Vegas in the very intense, infamous 500-hour Bikram Yoga Teacher Training. The life lessons I learned there continue to inspire me. The training showed me a strength within myself I never knew I had.
In 2013 I received my 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Certificate through Laughing River Yoga in Winooski, VT. It was here that I recognized my own gifts and realized the way in which I wanted to offer yoga to others.
I am enrolled in a 500-hour Teacher Training Program and will continue to be a student for the rest of my life.
For things to reveal themselves to us, we need to be ready to abandon our views about them.”
